Iain Shaw, Pastor & Worship Team Leader
Iain originally trained as an engineer in Glasgow but felt called by God to work in West Africa as a missionary, so along with his wife Sheena they worked with the church in France and Ivory Coast before returning to Scotland in 1997. After further theological studies at Glasgow University, Iain was called to serve as pastor of Clarkston Baptist Church in 1999 and has had the joy of raising a family of three children in the Glasgow area.
Clem Imrie, Elder
Colin Rodden, Deacon
Colin trained as a pharmacist and worked in that capacity in various hospitals in Ayrshire and Glasgow until he retired in 2021. He first came to Clarkston Baptist Church in 1992 and married Ann there in 1993. Their three children were brought up in the church. He became a member in 2010 and in 2014 he was elected as a Deacon. He became Church Secretary in November 2022.
Jim Cosgrove, Deacon
Jim McNeill, Deacon
Jim spent his entire working life, of forty six years, in newspaper production in Glasgow, enjoying every day. He came to Clarkston Baptist Church with his wife Connie and their young family after moving to the area in the late seventies. He was appointed to the deaconate in 2010, and considers it a privilege to assist the pastor throughout his twenty five years of ministry and beyond.
Tendai Mbaserah, Deacon
Tendai worked for 15 years as a software developer in Zimbabwe before responding to God’s calling by moving to South Africa and completing theological training at Cape Town Baptist Seminary. He has served as associate pastor and pastor in several churches across the UK, and was elected as a Deacon at Clarkston Baptist Church in 2023. Tendai is married to Prudence and they have 3 adult children and a granddaughter.
Colin Bassett, Deacon
Colin is the grandson of William Kater who founded Clarkston Baptist Church in 1937, and he was brought up in the church. He trained as an electrical engineer and is Chief Engineer within a large food manufacturer. He was appointed to serve as a Deacon in Clarkston Baptist Church in 2023, and also plays the keyboard and the accordion in the worship group.
Douglas Gardiner, Deacon
Douglas originally trained as an engineer, eventually qualifying as a draughtsman in the seventies. Later, he joined the police where he served for 30 years. He is a keen gardener (in more ways than one) and counts landscape painting and reading as hobbies. He became a Christian at an early age, and several decades later was appointed to serve as a Deacon in Clarkston Baptist Church.
